Ways to Give

Tribute Giving

Making a Tribute Gift to Renewal is a wonderful way to honor and celebrate a special individual, or remember the life of a loved one. We will thank you promptly for your gift, and the person you are honoring will receive a letter from Renewal with no mention of the amount of your gift. For memorial contributions, a letter will be sent to the person’s family. Make your Tribute Gift by downloading and printing our Donation Form.

United Way Giving

Many employers offer the opportunity to support charitable organizations through United Way workplace giving campaigns. If your employer participates, you can direct all or a portion of your contribution to Renewal, Inc. by using our United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania donor designation numbers:

Renewal Inc. – 13919832
Lydia’s Place – 4921

Your designated contribution will help support Renewal’s programs, including substance use treatment, recovery services, reentry assistance, workforce development, housing, and other life-changing programs that empower individuals to build brighter futures.

If you have questions about designating your United Way gift, please contact our Development Office at 412-690-2445, ext. 1100.

Betty Esper Scholarship

Established in honor of founding board member, longtime champion of Renewal’s work, and former mayor of Homestead Betty Esper, the Betty Esper Scholarship supports individuals at Renewal who are pursuing higher education or skilled trades as they rebuild their lives.

Scholarship recipients demonstrate determination, academic commitment, and a vision for a better future. One recipient, Army veteran and father of five William “BJ” Campbell successfully completed Renewal’s program while earning a degree in business administration, maintaining steady employment, and achieving a 4.0 GPA throughout his academic career.

Gifts to the Betty Esper Scholarship help individuals like Mr. Campbell overcome financial barriers to education, empowering them to achieve lasting independence and successful reentry into their families, workplaces, and communities. Help us reach our goal of awarding five scholarships each year.

Gifts of Stock

When most people think of making a gift they think of writing a check. Yet, there are other ways of making a meaningful gift and, at the same time, receiving tax advantages beyond the standard deduction. When donating appreciated securities you are not only helping Renewal, but also avoiding capital gains taxes, so your gift can benefit you and Renewal! Contact your tax professional for details about how to make such a gift

Corporate Support

Companies recognize the value of supporting Renewal’s programs and services. Among the many reasons is Renewal’s emphasis on workforce readiness through our GETPAID program®, which prepares individuals who are re-entering the workforce with the skills they need to be reliable, productive and successful employees. Many companies already partner with Renewal and benefit by being able to tap a pool of highly-motivated individuals to fill key positions.

By providing financial support to Renewal, areas businesses can benefit from the exposure that comes through naming opportunities, sponsorships, on-site recognition and logo display at events and programs that attract a wide range of civic, government and business leaders from throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia.

For more information contact the Development Department at 412-690-2445, ext. 1100.

Corporate Giving Campaigns

Many companies offer their employees the opportunity to support charities through payroll deduction. Please contact your Human Resources or Personnel department to determine if your company participates.

Matching Gift Programs

Another convenient way to support Renewal is through employer gift-matching programs. Many companies will match their employees’ financial donations dollar for dollar, sometimes even doubling their employees’ gifts. Find out if your company matches its employees’ gifts by contacting your human resources department.

Planned Giving

Many individuals make arrangements to benefit their charity of choice through a bequest, gift of life insurance, retirement account, real estate or other means. Often called “planned” or deferred gifts, there are many options for providing a legacy for Renewal that can pay immediate benefits and minimize estate taxes.

We would be happy to discuss some of the ways in which you can provide support to Renewal as part of your estate planning, and encourage you to talk with your personal tax and financial advisors as well.

Please contact the Development Department at 412-690-2445, ext. 1100, or use our download our form to let us know you would like to discuss making a planned gift.
